Position overview

Our client is seeking a healthcare regulatory associate to advise healthcare and life sciences businesses on complex reimbursement questions and the regulatory dimensions of significant transactions. Based in San Francisco, this role offers a mix of counseling and deal work involving emerging companies, investors, and established industry participants.

The Work

  • Advise on reimbursement compliance and on coding, coverage, and payment strategies for novel healthcare products and services.
  • Conduct regulatory due diligence for healthcare and life sciences transactions, identify material risks, and help coordinate appropriate diligence and deal responses.
  • Contribute to transaction documentation and negotiations for M&A, private equity investments, emerging-company matters, capital markets offerings, and venture financings.
  • Counsel clients on fraud and abuse issues, including compliance considerations; experience in this area is preferred.
  • Work with corporate colleagues and clients to address regulatory issues arising in transactions and support practical, business-focused outcomes.
  • Support counseling on healthcare and life sciences regulatory matters that may include government pricing and transparency, privacy and security, and related commercial arrangements.

What You Bring

  • At least three years of healthcare regulatory experience; candidates with approximately three to six years are sought.
  • Experience advising on reimbursement, including reimbursement compliance and coding, coverage, and payment for novel products or services.
  • Experience supporting transactional due diligence, deal documentation, and negotiations in matters such as M&A, private equity, emerging-company transactions, capital markets, or venture investments.
  • Fraud and abuse counseling or compliance experience is preferred.
  • Strong analytical and legal writing skills, with the ability to address complex regulatory questions clearly.
  • Interest in contributing to a dynamic, diverse, and fast-paced healthcare and life sciences practice.
