Our client is seeking Tax Associates with 1–7 years of experience to join a growing tax practice in Houston. The opportunity is suited to attorneys with strong technical tax skills and experience supporting transactions in one or more relevant practice areas.
The Work
- Research and analyze technical tax issues, and prepare clear written work addressing complex transactional questions.
- Support strategic and private equity M&A transactions, contributing tax analysis throughout the deal process.
- Work on capital markets matters, including spin-offs and initial public offerings, as relevant to experience and team needs.
- Advise on energy taxation matters involving oil and gas and/or energy transition issues.
- Contribute to investment fund formation matters and related transactional tax work.
- Support real estate tax matters, including work involving real estate investment trusts (REITs).
- Engage directly with clients and collaborate with other members of the tax group on difficult, novel problems.
- Participate in public speaking opportunities, including presentations at large national tax conferences.
What You Bring
- 1–7 years of experience, with consideration for associates in law school classes 2019–2025.
- Class-year-appropriate knowledge of the technical aspects of tax law.
- Relevant transactional tax experience in one or more of strategic or private equity M&A, capital markets, energy taxation, investment fund formation, or real estate matters.
- Strong tax research and writing abilities.
- Outstanding oral communication and analytical skills.
- Top academic credentials.
- Ability and desire to think creatively about complex, difficult, and novel problems.
- Strong interpersonal skills and enthusiasm for direct client interaction, collaboration, and public speaking.

Compensation & Benefits
The stated annual compensation range is $225,000–$420,000, depending on qualifications and operational considerations, with discretionary performance-based bonuses.
