Position overview

Our client is seeking Tax Associates with 3–6 years of experience to join a growing tax practice in Los Angeles. The group works across complex transactional matters and values strong technical tax skills, creative analysis, and an interest in direct client engagement.

The Work

  • Research and analyze technical tax issues arising in strategic and private equity M&A transactions, developing clear written analysis for complex and sometimes novel questions.
  • Contribute tax analysis to capital markets matters, including spin-offs and initial public offerings.
  • Support tax work connected with investment fund formation, applying relevant tax principles to fund-related matters.
  • Work on real estate matters, including matters involving real estate investment trusts.
  • Engage directly with clients and communicate tax analysis in a clear, thoughtful manner.
  • Collaborate face-to-face with colleagues and participate in public speaking opportunities, including at large national tax conferences.

What You Bring

  • Three to six years of relevant legal experience and a class-year-appropriate understanding of technical tax law.
  • Strong tax research and writing skills.
  • Experience with one or more of the following: strategic or private equity M&A, capital markets transactions, investment fund formation, or real estate and REIT matters.
  • Outstanding analytical and oral communication skills.
  • Ability and desire to think creatively about difficult and novel legal problems.
  • Top academic credentials.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and enthusiasm for direct client interaction and in-person collaboration.

Compensation & Benefits

The stated annual salary range is $260,000–$390,000, with salary within the range dependent on qualifications and operational considerations.

Discretionary performance-based bonuses and benefits are offered.
