Our client is seeking a Tax Associate with 3–6 years of experience to join a growing tax practice in Los Angeles. The role offers exposure to complex transactional tax work and calls for strong technical ability, sound judgment, and an interest in engaging directly with clients and colleagues.
The Work
- Analyze tax issues arising in strategic and private equity M&A transactions, contributing research and written work product to complex matters.
- Support tax work on capital markets transactions, including spin-offs and initial public offerings, applying technical knowledge to transaction-specific questions.
- Contribute to investment fund formation matters, researching and addressing tax considerations as part of the broader transaction process.
- Work on real estate tax matters, including REIT-related matters, with opportunities to engage with the varied issues presented by these transactions.
- Conduct legal research and prepare clear written analysis on difficult and sometimes novel tax questions.
- Interact directly with clients and collaborate face-to-face with colleagues, while developing oral communication and public-speaking experience, including at large national tax conferences.
What You Bring
- Three to six years of relevant legal experience; candidates from law school classes 2020–2023 are sought.
- A class-year-appropriate understanding of the technical aspects of tax law.
- Strong legal research and writing skills, including the ability to communicate complex tax analysis clearly.
- Experience with strategic and/or private equity M&A transactions, capital markets matters, investment fund formation, and/or real estate matters, including REITs.
- Outstanding oral communication and analytical skills.
- Top academic credentials.
- Creative problem-solving ability and interest in addressing difficult and novel legal questions.
- Strong interpersonal skills and enthusiasm for direct client interaction, public speaking, and in-office collaboration.

Compensation & Benefits
The stated annual salary range is $260,000–$390,000, depending on qualifications and operational considerations, and the position includes discretionary performance-based bonuses plus health care, retirement benefits, paid sick and vacation time, parental leave, basic life insurance, and Flexible Spending Accounts.
