Our client is seeking a Tax Associate with 4–7 years of experience to join a growing tax practice in New York City. The role offers work on complex tax questions and transactions, with an emphasis on strong technical skills, creative problem-solving, client interaction, and collaboration with colleagues.
The Work
- Research and analyze technical tax issues, develop clear written work product, and help address complex, difficult, and novel questions.
- Contribute tax support to strategic and private equity M&A transactions, applying technical knowledge to transaction-specific issues.
- Work on capital markets matters, including spin-offs and initial public offerings, in coordination with colleagues and clients.
- Support investment fund formation matters and address tax considerations arising during fund structuring and formation.
- Contribute to tax work involving real estate matters, drawing on relevant transactional and technical experience.
- Engage directly with clients and communicate tax issues and analysis clearly in professional settings.
- Participate in public speaking opportunities, including presentations at large national tax conferences, and collaborate with colleagues through in-person interaction.
What You Bring
- Four to seven years of experience in tax practice; associates in law school class years 2019–2022 are also identified for consideration.
- A class-year-appropriate understanding of the technical aspects of tax law.
- Strong tax research and writing abilities.
- Experience with one or more of the following: strategic or private equity M&A, capital markets including spin-offs or IPOs, investment fund formation, or real estate matters.
- Outstanding oral communication and analytical skills.
- Top academic credentials.
- Ability and desire to think creatively about complex, difficult, and often novel problems.
- Interpersonal skills and enthusiasm for direct client interaction, public speaking, and face-to-face collaboration with colleagues.

Compensation & Benefits
The stated annual compensation range is $260,000–$390,000, depending on qualifications and operational considerations, with discretionary performance-based bonuses and benefits including health care, retirement benefits, paid time off, parental leave, basic life insurance, and Flexible Spending Accounts.
