Position overview

Our client is seeking an experienced litigation paralegal to support institutional clients in complex litigation, primarily class actions. This remote contract opportunity combines ownership of case information and discovery workflows with hands-on preparation for depositions, hearings, and trials.

The Work

  • Act as a central coordination point for litigation teams by tracking assignments, deadlines, and status updates, and maintaining organized, current case files and document collections.
  • Review and analyze complex case documents and evidence, manage document collections, and coordinate with practice support to help ensure electronic materials are collected defensibly.
  • Conduct legal and factual research using client, opposing-party, public-agency, court, and other sources; prepare research memoranda or summaries and monitor developments in class action law and procedure.
  • Prepare initial drafts of discovery requests and responses, pleadings, memoranda, and other litigation documents; proofread legal memoranda and verify citations, authorities, and court-specific requirements.
  • Assist with document review for responsiveness, relevance, and privilege; prepare privilege logs, conduct database searches, and maintain witness, issue, expert-reliance, and other document collections.
  • Coordinate deposition preparation and materials, including exhibits and transcript tracking, and search and summarize deposition transcripts as needed.
  • Support trials, arbitrations, mediations, and depositions by preparing witness and exhibit materials, coordinating logistics with court personnel and counsel, and assisting with courtroom technology and presentation support.

What You Bring

  • At least five years of paralegal experience focused on class actions or complex commercial litigation at a mid-sized or large law firm.
  • Strong knowledge of applicable court and agency rules, procedures, filing requirements, and litigation practices.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage complex case files, discovery, deadlines, and competing priorities with accuracy and discretion.
  • Excellent legal research, analytical, organizational, communication, grammar, and proofreading skills, including experience checking citations and legal authorities.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Outlook, and Excel; LexisNexis, Westlaw, PACER, Relativity, and other legal research tools.
  • A bachelor’s degree and completion of a paralegal program of study, or demonstrated equivalent knowledge and skill consistent with applicable state requirements.
  • Ability to work remotely, generally about 37.5 hours per week, and accommodate West Coast business hours; work hours may vary and a minimum number of weekly hours is not guaranteed.
  • Must reside in an eligible state: AK, AZ, CA, CO, CT, FL, GA, MD, MN, MT, NJ, NM, NY, OH, OR, PA (subject to jurisdiction-specific requirements), TN, TX, VA, WA, Washington, D.C., or WV.
  • Trial support software such as Trial Director or OnCue, and experience supporting matters across offices and jurisdictions, are pluses.

Why Consider It

This role offers hands-on responsibility across the lifecycle of complex litigation, from case coordination, research, and discovery through deposition and trial support.

The work is remote, with full-time hours generally anticipated, and the initial six-month engagement has potential for renewal, though renewal is not guaranteed.

The New York hourly range is $40–$60, adjusted for experience and other job-related factors, and the position is eligible for benefits.
