Our client is seeking a Washington, D.C.-based associate with 3–6 years of experience to join a broad Government Contracts & National Security practice. The work spans complex litigation, investigations, regulatory counseling and transactions involving government contractors, grants, and federal agencies.
The Work
- Help litigate complex contract award challenges, including matters involving large aerospace and defense companies and high-value federal procurements.
- Contribute to negotiations of novel agreements with the government, including Other Transaction Agreements (OTAs), Cooperative Research and Development Agreements (CRADAs), and Technology Investment Agreements (TIAs).
- Advise recipients and subrecipients of federal grants, including Inflation Reduction Act and CHIPS Act funding, on interpreting grant requirements and maintaining compliance.
- Assist clients in responding to federal audits, enforcement actions, and other controversies with awarding agencies.
- Support investigations and counseling matters, developing legal analysis and written work product for clients navigating government contracts and national security issues.
- Work on mergers, acquisitions, and other transactions involving government contractors, including due diligence, asset and stock purchase agreements, and novations.
What You Bring
- At least three years of prior legal experience in government contracts law or a closely related practice, with a demonstrated interest in the field.
- Strong legal research, writing, and analytical skills, including the ability to address complex regulatory and contractual issues.
- Ability to work independently and creatively while contributing effectively as part of a team.
- Excellent academic credentials and references.
- Currently licensed or eligible to become licensed to practice law in Washington, D.C. Experience as a judicial clerk for the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit or the Court of Federal Claims, or academic training in government contracts law, is especially valued.
- Working knowledge of transactions involving government contractors, including due diligence, purchase agreements, and novations, is especially encouraged.

Compensation & Benefits
The stated Washington, D.C. salary range is $260,000–$365,000, commensurate with experience, and the role is eligible for an hours-based bonus.
