Position overview

Our client is seeking an experienced paralegal to support institutional clients in medium- to large-scale litigation, primarily class actions. This remote contract opportunity combines substantial case-management ownership with hands-on discovery, research, and trial support.

The Work

  • Serve as a central point for litigation-team communications and maintain organized matter information, assignment status, deadlines, case files, and document collections.
  • Review and analyze complex documents and evidence; conduct legal and factual research using client, public, court, agency, and other sources; and prepare research memoranda or summaries.
  • Support discovery from collection through production, including tracking materials, assisting with defensible electronic collections, conducting initial responsiveness and privilege review, preparing privilege logs, and drafting discovery requests and responses.
  • Prepare and proofread pleadings, memoranda, and related filings; verify citations and authorities; coordinate filing requirements; and work with docketing personnel to maintain accurate calendars.
  • Organize deposition materials, exhibits, witness and issue files, and transcripts; search deposition databases and summarize testimony.
  • Assist with trials, arbitrations, mediations, and depositions by preparing exhibit and witness lists and testimony designations, coordinating logistics, liaising with court personnel and counsel, and supporting presentation technology.

What You Bring

  • At least five years of paralegal experience focused on class action or complex commercial litigation at a mid-sized or large law firm.
  • Bachelor’s degree and completion of a paralegal program of study, or equivalent knowledge and skills consistent with applicable state requirements.
  • Strong knowledge of court and agency rules, procedures, filing requirements, and class action law and practice.
  • Experience with litigation research, discovery, complex document review, case-file management, proofreading, and trial preparation.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Outlook, and Excel; LexisNexis or Westlaw; PACER; Relativity; and other legal research tools.
  • Excellent organization, writing, grammar, analytical, communication, and time-management skills, with sound judgment and careful handling of confidential materials.
  • Ability to manage competing deadlines in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment and to remain composed under pressure.
  • Remote availability for an average of 37.5 hours per week, support of West Coast business hours, and flexibility for hours to fluctuate.
  • Candidates must reside in an eligible state.

Why Consider It
