Our client is seeking an associate to join its New York City M&A and Private Equity practice. The role offers exposure to strategic transactions and investment matters across industries and jurisdictions, with the opportunity to work alongside multidisciplinary teams advising businesses, investors, and their portfolio companies.
The Work
- Contribute to mergers and acquisitions ranging from routine engagements to complex, transformational transactions, helping teams advance clients’ strategic objectives.
- Support private equity clients and portfolio companies across the investment lifecycle, from initial investment through exit.
- Work on sophisticated cross-border transactions, including carve-outs, tax-free spinoffs, and multi-billion-dollar going-private transactions.
- Help clients assess and address shareholder activism, antitrust challenges, and changing regulatory requirements in connection with transactions.
- Collaborate with colleagues across areas such as fund formation, private equity finance, capital markets, leveraged finance, tax, executive compensation, and ESG advisory.
- Participate in matters for clients across industry-focused, growth equity, large-cap, and middle-market strategies.
What You Bring
- Typically 3–6 years of experience, with at least two years of experience in mergers and acquisitions and/or private equity.
- Experience supporting M&A transactions and/or private equity investments, portfolio company matters, or exits.
- Ability to contribute to transaction execution and work through legal, business, and regulatory issues with deal teams.
- Strong analytical skills and sound judgment in addressing complex transaction challenges.
- Clear, effective written and verbal communication skills for collaboration with colleagues and client teams.
- Ability to work effectively on matters involving multiple practice areas, industries, or jurisdictions.
