Our client is seeking an associate with 3–6 years of relevant experience to join a nationally recognized FERC regulatory practice. The work centers on advising utilities, energy developers, market participants, and data center clients as demand for infrastructure and interconnection solutions grows. The position is available in Washington, D.C. (preferred), Seattle, Portland, or San Francisco.
The Work
- Advise electric and natural gas utilities, developers, and market participants on regulatory matters arising under the Federal Power Act and Natural Gas Act.
- Represent clients in FERC proceedings involving electric transmission rates and incentives, wholesale energy markets, and regulatory compliance.
- Support interconnection and large-load matters, including complex energy and interconnection needs for data center clients.
- Work on natural gas pipeline certification, rates, and compliance matters, including research, drafting filings, and managing agency interactions.
- Advise on the regulatory aspects of energy infrastructure transactions and collaborate with colleagues on infrastructure, regulatory, and energy-transition matters.
- Build a practice that is approximately 80% FERC regulatory work, with additional support for a growing mix of data center-related and energy transactional matters.
What You Bring
- 3–6 years of relevant legal experience, including meaningful experience with FERC regulatory matters.
- Juris Doctor degree from an accredited law school and admission to practice in the relevant U.S. jurisdiction.
- Experience with electric and/or natural gas regulatory work.
- Strong legal research, writing, and analytical skills, including the ability to prepare clear regulatory filings.
- Experience in a large law firm or with FERC or a state commission.
- Familiarity with interconnection issues or energy infrastructure development; hydropower licensing experience is beneficial but not required.
- Interest in work at the intersection of regulation, infrastructure investment, and emerging energy demands, including data centers.

Compensation & Benefits
The stated annual salary range is $215,000–$315,000, with actual pay based on job-related factors; eligible full-time employees may also qualify for an annual discretionary bonus and a benefits package that includes medical, dental, vision, retirement, and paid time off programs.
