Position overview

Our client is seeking an experienced attorney to work at the intersection of energy, digital infrastructure, and complex commercial matters in Seattle. The practice advises businesses navigating a changing energy landscape, with substantial data center-related work alongside traditional energy projects and emerging technologies.

The Work

  • Draft and negotiate energy supply, project development, procurement, and operational agreements for a range of energy industry participants.
  • Support transactions involving energy project development, financing, acquisitions, and asset sales, with opportunities to take ownership of components of deals.
  • Advise on renewable energy credit transactions and matters involving wholesale and retail energy markets.
  • Work on data center-related energy matters as well as commercial work for renewable energy and battery storage developers.
  • Counsel clients on matters involving distributed energy resources, storage, transmission, demand response, energy efficiency, and decarbonization initiatives.
  • Collaborate with colleagues across energy, infrastructure, environmental, technology, and commercial practices, and engage directly with clients.

What You Bring

  • Juris Doctor from an accredited law school and admission to practice in California.
  • At least three years of relevant energy transactions experience; candidates with a strong commercial transactions background and a demonstrated interest in energy will also be considered.
  • Strong drafting and negotiation skills, with the ability to independently manage components of transactions.
  • Familiarity with state and federal energy regulatory frameworks, utility operations, or renewable energy development.
  • Strong legal research, writing, analytical, and communication capabilities.
  • Interest in emerging technologies, renewable energy, grid modernization, and energy transition issues.
  • Ability to manage multiple complex matters in a collaborative, fast-paced environment.

Compensation & Benefits

The stated annual salary range is $225,000–$330,000, with actual pay adjusted based on job-related factors; an annual discretionary bonus and a comprehensive benefits package may also be available.
