Our client is seeking an experienced attorney for a growing energy practice, with a preferred office location in San Francisco and additional consideration for Seattle or Portland. The position offers sophisticated commercial work supporting energy and digital infrastructure, including data center-related matters and traditional energy projects.
The Work
- Draft and negotiate energy supply, development, procurement, and operational agreements for a range of energy market participants and businesses.
- Support transactions involving energy project development and financing, as well as acquisitions and asset sales.
- Advise on renewable energy credit transactions and wholesale and retail energy market matters.
- Counsel on commercial matters involving renewable energy, distributed energy resources, battery storage, transmission, demand response, energy efficiency, and decarbonization initiatives.
- Work on data center-related energy matters while also supporting traditional commercial work for renewable energy and battery storage developers.
- Collaborate across practices on energy transition, infrastructure, environmental, technology, and commercial matters, with direct client exposure and responsibility for managing components of deals.
What You Bring
- At least three years of relevant energy transactions experience; candidates with a strong commercial transactions background and a demonstrated interest in energy will also be considered.
- Juris Doctor degree from an accredited law school and admission to practice in California.
- Strong drafting and negotiating skills, including the ability to work through complex commercial agreements.
- Familiarity with state and federal energy regulatory frameworks, utility operations, or renewable energy development.
- Ability to independently manage some components of transactions while working effectively as part of a collaborative team.
- Strong legal research, writing, analytical, and communication skills.
- Interest in emerging technologies, renewable energy, grid modernization, and energy transition issues.
- Ability to manage multiple complex matters in a fast-paced environment.

Compensation & Benefits
The stated annual salary range is $225,000–$330,000; eligible full-time employees may also qualify for a discretionary annual bonus and a benefits package.
