Position overview

Our client is seeking an associate with 1–3 years of experience to advise on the privacy, data processing, and cybersecurity issues that increasingly shape complex transactions. Based in Boulder, this role works alongside corporate and transactional teams on matters involving innovative technology companies.

The Work

  • Advise on privacy, data processing, and cybersecurity issues arising in mergers and acquisitions, public offerings, and other commercial and strategic transactions.
  • Work alongside corporate and transactional teams to identify how data practices and privacy obligations affect live deals.
  • Draft and negotiate data-related provisions and help shape transaction terms addressing data use, control, and risk.
  • Identify and assess privacy and cybersecurity risks that may affect transaction structure, diligence, or deal terms.
  • Translate evolving regulatory issues into clear, practical guidance for deal teams and clients.
  • Support transactions involving companies in artificial intelligence and machine learning, cloud computing, software, and fintech.

What You Bring

  • One to three years of legal experience with meaningful transactional exposure.
  • Experience in mergers and acquisitions, capital markets, or technology transactions.
  • Ability to assess privacy issues in the context of an active deal and apply sound judgment to emerging risks.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to explain regulatory issues clearly.
  • J.D. from an ABA-accredited law school and strong academic credentials.
  • Regulatory policy or enforcement experience is a plus.
  • CIPP certification is a plus.

Compensation & Benefits

The firm states a salary range of $225,000–$260,000 based on year classification, and discretionary merit bonuses may be awarded.
