Our client is seeking a Los Angeles associate to help address the data questions shaping major transactions. Working alongside corporate and transactional teams, you will advise on privacy, data processing, and cybersecurity issues in deals involving fast-evolving technologies and businesses.
The Work
- Advise on privacy, data processing, and cybersecurity issues arising in mergers and acquisitions, public offerings, and other commercial and strategic transactions.
- Draft and shape data-related provisions in transaction documents, helping teams address how data moves, who controls it, and what happens when issues arise.
- Identify and assess privacy and cybersecurity risks in live deals, then translate regulatory developments into clear, practical guidance for deal teams and clients.
- Work alongside corporate and transactional teams on matters involving companies in artificial intelligence and machine learning, cloud computing, software, and fintech.
- Contribute transactional privacy judgment to matters where emerging data issues can affect deal terms and execution.
What You Bring
- One to three years of legal experience, with meaningful transactional exposure.
- Experience in M&A, capital markets, or technology transactions.
- Knowledge of privacy, data processing, and cybersecurity issues relevant to transactions.
- Ability to assess how privacy and data concerns affect a live deal and communicate practical guidance.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- J.D. from an ABA-accredited law school and strong academic credentials.
- Regulatory policy or enforcement experience is a plus.
- CIPP certification is a plus.

Compensation & Benefits
The stated salary is $225,000–$260,000 based on year classification, and discretionary merit bonuses may be awarded.
