Position overview

Our client is seeking a Salt Lake City associate with 1–3 years of experience to work at the intersection of data issues and major transactions. You will partner with corporate and transactional teams, helping clients address how data is handled, controlled, and protected as deals take shape.

The Work

  • Advise on privacy, data processing, and cybersecurity issues arising in mergers and acquisitions, public offerings, and other commercial and strategic transactions.
  • Shape data-related provisions in transaction documents and help deal teams address how data is used, shared, and controlled.
  • Identify and assess data-related risks in live transactions, applying judgment to explain how privacy issues may affect deal terms and execution.
  • Translate evolving regulatory issues into clear, practical guidance for deal teams and clients.
  • Support transactions involving companies in artificial intelligence and machine learning, cloud computing, software, and fintech.

What You Bring

  • 1–3 years of legal experience with meaningful transactional exposure.
  • Experience in M&A, capital markets, or technology transactions.
  • Ability to assess privacy issues in the context of a live deal and exercise sound judgment.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • J.D. from an ABA-accredited law school and strong academic credentials.
  • Regulatory policy or enforcement experience, or a CIPP certification, is a plus.

Compensation & Benefits

The stated salary range is $225,000–$260,000 based on year classification, and discretionary merit bonuses may be awarded.
