Position overview

Our client is seeking an experienced transactional tax lawyer to join its Redwood City team. This opportunity offers work on complex domestic and cross-border transactions, fund formation, capital markets matters, and financings within a globally collaborative tax practice.

The Work

  • Advise on tax issues arising in domestic and cross-border mergers and acquisitions, working with deal teams on transaction-related tax considerations.
  • Handle partnership tax matters and contribute tax analysis and structuring for private equity fund formation.
  • Support capital markets transactions and financings, addressing the tax issues that arise in connection with these matters.
  • Develop practical, commercial approaches to complex tax questions for clients across a range of industries and organizational types.
  • Collaborate across offices and disciplines on transactional tax matters for multinational corporations, financial institutions, private equity funds, joint ventures, and emerging companies.

What You Bring

  • At least four years of law-firm experience dedicated to transactional tax matters.
  • Experience advising on domestic and cross-border M&A tax matters.
  • Knowledge of partnership tax and private equity fund formation.
  • Experience with tax aspects of capital markets transactions and financings.
  • Ability to analyze complex tax issues and develop practical, commercially oriented solutions.

The employer describes comprehensive benefits and well-being resources for lawyers and their families.

Estimated base compensation is $310,000–$435,000, based on the 2026 Cravath scale; actual compensation may differ, and discretionary bonuses may be available.
