Our client is seeking a junior to mid-level associate to advise wealthy individuals and families on the interconnected legal and tax issues affecting their businesses, investments, succession plans, and philanthropic activities. Based in Washington, D.C., this role is part of an interdisciplinary private client practice.
The Work
- Counsel individuals and families on estate planning, trusts and estates, transfer tax, and associated income tax matters.
- Advise on wealth succession planning and the business, investment, and tax considerations that shape long-term planning.
- Work on matters involving real estate, family disputes, and business organization as part of a broad private client practice.
- Assist clients with the creation and operation of family offices, including planning focused on wealth preservation and asset protection.
- Support clients' philanthropic activities alongside their broader estate, tax, business, and investment planning.
What You Bring
- Approximately two to three years of experience in trusts and estates, transfer tax, and associated income tax matters is preferred.
- Experience in the trusts and estates field is required.
- Demonstrated knowledge of estate planning and transfer tax issues is required.
- Ability to work across related tax, real estate, family dispute, business organization, and succession planning matters.
- Completion of, or current enrollment in, an LL.M. in taxation or estate planning is preferred.
- Must be licensed, or currently eligible to become licensed, to practice law in Washington, D.C.

Compensation & Benefits
The stated Washington, D.C. salary range is $225,000–$365,000, commensurate with experience, and the position may be eligible for an hours-based bonus.
