Position overview

Our client is seeking a patent agent to join its Los Angeles team and work with life sciences clients on patent prosecution and related intellectual property matters. This opportunity combines U.S. and foreign patent office practice with advisory, transactional, and litigation-support work.

The Work

  • Draft and prosecute patent applications for life sciences clients, developing prosecution strategies and advancing applications through U.S. and foreign patent office practice.
  • Contribute to patent opinion work on a variety of life sciences-focused projects, applying technical knowledge to client questions and IP issues.
  • Support due diligence and licensing matters, helping assess patent portfolios and address intellectual property considerations in transactions.
  • Assist with litigation support involving life sciences intellectual property matters, working alongside the broader team on case-related needs.
  • Counsel clients on a range of life sciences-focused projects and contribute to sophisticated matters with local and national scope.

What You Bring

  • At least two years of patent prosecution experience, preferably working with life sciences clients.
  • An advanced degree in biology, chemistry, or a biotechnology discipline.
  • Admission to the United States Patent and Trademark Office.
  • Experience drafting and prosecuting patent applications.
  • Excellent academic credentials.
  • Ability to contribute to U.S. and foreign patent office practice, opinion work, due diligence, licensing, litigation support, and client counseling.
