Our client is seeking an employment associate with at least two years of labor and employment experience to handle litigation and provide practical advice to employers. The listing identifies Miami, while the position description references California offices and requires California bar admission; candidates should confirm the intended office location.
The Work
- Manage litigation tasks in single-plaintiff and class action matters, including legal research, drafting, case development, and related litigation responsibilities.
- Handle disputes alleging meal and rest period violations, unpaid wages or bonuses, off-the-clock work, employee misclassification, harassment, discrimination, retaliation, breach of contract, and wrongful termination.
- Contribute to the defense of class and collective actions and PAGA claims, with opportunities to develop courtroom experience, including trial work.
- Provide day-to-day advice and counsel to a broad range of clients on employment matters and workplace practices.
- Draft and negotiate employment, termination, severance, and related agreements, and advise on reductions in force.
- Counsel employers on restrictive covenants, employee mobility, compensation practices, commission plans, employee policies and training, and leave practices.
What You Bring
- At least two years of labor and employment experience, including both litigation and advice-and-counsel work.
- Admission to practice in California, as specified in the position description.
- Strong knowledge of state and federal employment laws, including wage-and-hour requirements, the California Labor Code, and discrimination laws.
- Experience with employment litigation in state and federal courts and before agencies.
- Experience defending class and collective actions and PAGA claims; trial experience is identified as a desired qualification.
- Strong legal research, writing, analytical, organizational, and problem-solving abilities, with sound professional judgment and effective verbal communication.
Why Consider It
This role combines employment litigation with practical employer counseling, giving the associate exposure to a wide range of claims, class and collective matters, PAGA cases, and day-to-day workplace issues.
The position description emphasizes client communication and work across both litigation and advisory matters.
The work arrangement is described as regular in-office presence with some flexibility to work from home; the location should be confirmed because the listing and role description differ.
Compensation & Benefits
The stated annual hiring range is $235,000–$365,000, depending on experience and qualifications, and the described benefits include medical, dental, and vision insurance and a 401(k).
