Position overview

Our AmLaw 100 client is seeking a 3–7 year associate to contribute to consequential intellectual property disputes involving advanced technologies. The practice handles matters in federal courts, before the U.S. International Trade Commission, and in Patent Trial and Appeal Board proceedings, with exposure to appellate work as well.

The Work

  • Work closely with partners on complex intellectual property disputes in federal district courts, before the ITC, and in PTAB proceedings for established technology companies and startups.
  • Research and analyze legal issues to help develop litigation strategy involving patent validity and infringement, IP and antitrust questions, and technology issues in commercial disputes.
  • Draft pleadings, motions, discovery plans, and other key litigation documents, and contribute to the development and execution of case strategy.
  • Prepare for depositions, hearings, and trials by reviewing evidence, developing trial materials, and engaging with expert witnesses.
  • Support appeals and amicus briefs before the Federal Circuit and the U.S. Supreme Court.
  • Work on matters involving sectors such as semiconductors, telecommunications, medical devices, software, fintech, and biotechnology, while tracking emerging issues involving technology standards and patent misuse defenses.

What You Bring

  • Three to seven years of intellectual property litigation experience, including patent litigation in federal court, ITC hearings, and/or PTAB proceedings.
  • J.D. from an ABA-accredited law school and an excellent undergraduate and law school academic record.
  • Admission, or eligibility for admission, to the bar in the state where you will work.
  • A degree in the sciences or a technical background is required, along with the ability to work with technical subject matter such as semiconductors, software, telecommunications, medical devices, fintech, or biotechnology.
  • Excellent legal research, analytical, and writing skills, including the ability to contribute to persuasive litigation filings.
  • Strong oral communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively and manage multiple matters in a fast-paced practice.

Compensation & Benefits

The stated annual salary range is $225,000–$330,000, with actual pay determined by job-related factors; eligible full-time employees may also receive a discretionary annual bonus and benefits.
