Bring your California courtroom experience to a Houston-based litigation practice handling environmental and products liability matters. This role offers meaningful involvement in complex cases, from developing strategy and preparing written advocacy to participating in hearings, depositions, negotiations, and trials.
The Work
- Research legal issues and analyze relevant law and precedent to support case preparation and strategy.
- Draft clear, well-reasoned litigation documents, including briefs, motions, and client correspondence.
- Assist with or manage complex matters from inception through resolution, with responsibility calibrated to experience and sound judgment.
- Prepare for and participate in high-level litigation activities, including court hearings, depositions, negotiations, and trials.
- Maintain and develop client relationships by providing regular updates, practical advice, and responsive attention to concerns.
- Collaborate with lawyers and business professionals to develop case strategies and pursue favorable outcomes in environmental and products liability disputes.
- Support matters through negotiations and settlements, while staying current on applicable legal standards and developments.
What You Bring
- Four to five years of legal experience in a law firm or agency setting.
- Admission to practice in California and experience in California state courts.
- Experience in environmental litigation, products liability litigation, or both.
- Strong legal research, analysis, and problem-solving abilities.
- Experience drafting persuasive briefs, motions, and other litigation documents.
- Sound professional and business judgment, attention to detail, and strong organizational skills.
- Clear written and verbal communication and the ability to work collaboratively as well as independently.
- Ability to manage competing demands and deadlines in a fast-paced practice.
