Position overview

A San Francisco opportunity for an associate who wants to help shape how data-related questions are addressed in consequential transactions. Work alongside corporate and transactional teams advising companies in AI and machine learning, cloud computing, software, and fintech.

The Work

  • Advise on privacy, data-processing, and cybersecurity issues arising in mergers and acquisitions, public offerings, and other commercial and strategic transactions.
  • Work alongside corporate and transactional teams to assess how data practices and privacy considerations affect live deals.
  • Help shape data-related provisions in transaction documents and identify risks that may influence deal terms.
  • Translate fast-moving regulatory issues into clear, practical guidance for deal teams and clients.
  • Support transactions involving companies building in artificial intelligence and machine learning, cloud computing, software, and fintech.

What You Bring

  • One to three years of legal experience with meaningful transactional exposure.
  • Experience in M&A, capital markets, or technology transactions.
  • Ability to assess how privacy and data issues affect a live transaction and exercise sound judgment.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • J.D. from an ABA-accredited law school and strong academic credentials.
  • Regulatory policy or enforcement experience is a plus.
  • CIPP certification is a plus.

Compensation & Benefits

The stated base salary range is $225,000–$260,000, based on year classification, with discretionary merit bonuses potentially available.
