Position overview

A confidential Anchorage opportunity offers a blend of contract work and project-related disputes for an attorney who wants to help clients address challenges across the life of construction and design projects. You will work with partners and clients on commercial and public matters, with responsibility for drafting, negotiation, and dispute support.

The Work

  • Draft and negotiate construction and design agreements, including custom documents and industry-standard AIA, AGC, and DBIA forms, with limited supervision.
  • Advise clients on contract terms and allocation of risk in construction and design arrangements.
  • Support a high volume of construction and design contract transactions and help manage the related workflow.
  • Assist with public and private claims and dispute-resolution work arising from construction projects.
  • Support or handle construction-related litigation, coordinating with experienced partners and maintaining a strong focus on client service and responsiveness.
  • Work on commercial and public construction and design matters for clients engaged in complex construction and development projects.

What You Bring

  • At least three years of experience with construction and design contracts and related litigation.
  • Experience gained in a mid-size or large law firm or an in-house legal department.
  • Active admission to the Alaska bar and residence in Alaska for the Anchorage-based position.
  • Strong drafting and negotiation skills, including the ability to manage construction transactions.
  • Experience working with AIA, AGC, and DBIA contract forms.
  • Experience supporting or handling construction-related claims or litigation.
  • Strong verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills, with a client-service orientation and responsiveness.
  • Careful attention to detail and the ability to deliver high-quality work under partner supervision and direction.

Compensation & Benefits

The firm-stated annual salary range is $147,000–$325,000, with actual pay adjusted for job-related factors; full-time employees may also be eligible for benefits and an annual discretionary bonus.
