Position overview

Our client is seeking a restructuring and special situations finance associate with 3–7 years of experience to join its Business Restructuring & Reorganization team in Palo Alto. The position offers work representing creditors and borrowers in complex financing matters, Chapter 11 cases and out-of-court restructurings.

The Work

  • Represent creditors or borrowers in liability management transactions, with involvement in matters at the top of the capital structure.
  • Work on debtor-in-possession financings for clients involved in bankruptcy proceedings.
  • Represent clients in bankruptcy exit financings and financing transactions connected with restructuring situations.
  • Advise on special situations financings for financial institutions and investment funds.
  • Participate in high-profile representations in Chapter 11 cases, including work for hedge funds, CLOs, private equity funds and other financial institutions.
  • Handle matters arising from out-of-court restructurings as well as court-supervised bankruptcy cases.

What You Bring

  • Three to seven years of relevant legal experience, with significant experience representing creditors or borrowers in finance matters.
  • Experience with liability management transactions.
  • Experience with DIP financings, bankruptcy exit financings and/or special situations financings.
  • Familiarity with Chapter 11 cases and out-of-court restructurings.
  • Experience representing or working with hedge funds, CLOs, private equity funds or other financial institutions is relevant to the practice.
  • The search is directed to law school class years 2019 through 2023.

Compensation & Benefits

The stated annual compensation range is $235,000–$390,000, depending on qualifications and other operational considerations.
