Position overview

Our client is seeking a Renewable Energy Tax Associate with 3–6 years of experience to join a collaborative transactional tax team in San Francisco. The associate will work on sophisticated renewable energy matters and help clients navigate the complex, rapidly evolving tax rules shaping the clean energy transition.

The Work

  • Advise clients on renewable energy tax credit qualification, including beginning-of-construction requirements under Internal Revenue Code Sections 45 and 48.
  • Analyze prevailing wage and apprenticeship requirements relevant to renewable energy tax credits.
  • Support mergers and acquisitions involving renewable energy clients and projects.
  • Contribute to tax equity financings, including work alongside transactional tax lawyers on complex financing matters.
  • Support tax credit transfers and other joint ventures in the renewable energy sector.
  • Take on meaningful responsibility from day one while contributing to sophisticated matters across the practice.

What You Bring

  • Three to six years of relevant legal experience.
  • Experience or demonstrated capability in transactional tax matters.
  • Knowledge of renewable energy tax credit qualification, including beginning-of-construction, prevailing wage, and apprenticeship requirements.
  • Familiarity with Internal Revenue Code Sections 45 and 48.
  • Ability to contribute to M&A transactions, tax equity financings, tax credit transfers, and joint ventures.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with transactional tax lawyers on complex, evolving matters.

Compensation & Benefits

The stated salary range is $225,000–$425,000.
