Our client is seeking an experienced counsel-level attorney to join its Projects, Energy, Environment & Resources practice in Seattle. This role focuses on high-stakes matters at the intersection of large-scale digital infrastructure and the energy transition, with substantial responsibility for complex transactions, regulatory matters, client relationships, and practice development.
The Work
- Lead the drafting and negotiation of bespoke power purchase agreements, energy service agreements, and complex interconnection arrangements for developers, utilities, and corporate buyers.
- Advise clients on electric market design and participation in RTOs and ISOs, including capacity market mechanisms, large-load and generator interconnection policies, and markets such as PJM, MISO, SPP, ERCOT, and CAISO.
- Represent clients in significant proceedings before the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission and advise on compliance matters involving market-based rate programs, qualifying facilities, exempt wholesale generators, and interlocks.
- Counsel on emerging federal energy policy, renewable energy integration, and carbon-free energy procurement strategies.
- Manage complex energy transactions and regulatory filings from inception through completion, exercising substantial independence and coordinating closely with clients and colleagues.
- Contribute to client relationship management and practice growth, including thought leadership on digital infrastructure, energy infrastructure, and the energy transition.
- Guide and oversee associates, supporting the quality of work product and their professional development.
What You Bring
- At least six years of experience practicing energy law; the position is intended for an experienced attorney, with a stated experience range of 6–12 years.
- Demonstrated ability to manage complex transactions and regulatory filings from inception to completion with minimal partner supervision.
- Deep knowledge of the Federal Power Act, wholesale power markets, and power transaction structures.
- Experience drafting and negotiating power purchase agreements, energy service agreements, or interconnection arrangements.
- Knowledge of RTO/ISO market design and issues involving capacity markets, large loads, or generator interconnection.
- Experience representing clients before FERC and advising on federal energy regulatory compliance.
- Strong client-service, communication, and collaboration skills, with interest in contributing to client relationships and practice development.
- J.D. from an accredited law school and admission, or eligibility for admission on waiver, in Washington.

Compensation & Benefits
The firm-stated annual compensation range is $245,000–$420,000, depending on qualifications and experience; the position is also eligible for an annual discretionary bonus and offers 401(k), medical, dental and vision insurance, personal medical and parental leave, up to ten paid holidays, and family care benefits.
