Our client is seeking a senior attorney to join its Projects, Energy, Environment & Resources practice in New York City. This counsel-level opportunity centers on high-stakes matters involving large-scale digital infrastructure, power markets, and the energy transition.
The Work
- Lead the drafting and negotiation of bespoke power purchase agreements, energy service agreements, and complex interconnection arrangements for developers, utilities, and corporate buyers.
- Advise clients on electric market design and participation in RTOs and ISOs, including capacity market mechanisms and policies affecting large-load and generator interconnection.
- Represent clients in significant proceedings before the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission and advise on related regulatory and compliance matters.
- Counsel clients on market-based rate programs, qualifying facilities, exempt wholesale generators, and interlocking positions.
- Develop strategies for renewable energy integration, emerging federal energy policy, and carbon-free energy procurement.
- Work with practice partners on client relationship management and contribute to thought leadership concerning digital infrastructure, energy infrastructure, and the energy transition.
- Provide guidance and oversight to associates, supporting high-quality work product and professional development.
What You Bring
- At least six years of experience practicing energy law; the position is designed for a senior, counsel-level practitioner.
- Substantial knowledge of the Federal Power Act, wholesale power markets, and power transaction structures.
- Demonstrated ability to manage complex transactions and regulatory filings from inception through completion with minimal partner supervision.
- Experience drafting and negotiating power purchase agreements, energy service agreements, or interconnection arrangements.
- Familiarity with RTO/ISO markets; experience involving PJM, MISO, SPP, ERCOT, or CAISO is relevant.
- Strong regulatory advocacy, analytical, drafting, and client-advising capabilities.
- Juris Doctor degree from an accredited law school.
- Admitted to practice in New York or eligible to waive into the jurisdiction.

Compensation & Benefits
The stated annual compensation range is $245,000 to $420,000, and the position is eligible for a discretionary bonus, 401(k), medical, dental and vision insurance, personal medical and parental leave, paid holidays, and family care benefits.
