Our client is seeking a midlevel associate with 3–6 years of experience to join a nationally recognized Projects, Energy, Environment & Resources practice in Boise. The role sits at the intersection of digital infrastructure and the energy transition, advising on power strategies and the state and federal frameworks shaping energy infrastructure.
The Work
- Negotiate power purchase agreements and custom energy service agreements for developers, utilities, and corporate buyers, including data center developers.
- Advise clients on electric market design and participation within RTOs and ISOs, including capacity market mechanisms and policies affecting large loads and generators.
- Counsel clients on interconnection matters for generators and large loads, with exposure to markets including PJM, MISO, SPP, ERCOT, and CAISO.
- Represent clients in proceedings before the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission and advise on compliance matters involving market-based rate programs, qualifying facilities, exempt wholesale generators, and interlocks.
- Advise on emerging federal energy policy, renewable energy integration, and carbon-free energy procurement strategies.
- Draft bespoke energy contracts and work directly with clients on transactional, regulatory, and market strategy issues.
What You Bring
- Three to six years of experience practicing energy law.
- Experience with energy regulatory matters, transactions, or a combination of both.
- Familiarity with the Federal Power Act and electricity market mechanics.
- Understanding of power transaction structures and energy procurement arrangements.
- Demonstrated ability to draft bespoke energy contracts, including power purchase or energy services agreements.
- Juris Doctor degree from an accredited law school.
- Admission to practice in Idaho, or eligibility to waive into the jurisdiction.

Compensation & Benefits
The stated annual compensation range is $190,000–$390,000, depending on qualifications and experience, and the position is eligible for an annual discretionary bonus.
