Position overview

Our client is seeking a Private Wealth Services Associate with 3–6 years of experience to join its Richmond team. The practice advises high-net-worth individuals, families, closely held businesses, and charitable organizations on sophisticated planning, administration, and fiduciary matters.

The Work

  • Advise individuals and families on estate planning matters, including complex planning issues and related tax considerations.
  • Support trust and estate administration, including fiduciary advisory matters and client questions arising during administration.
  • Work on business succession planning for closely held businesses and their owners, connecting business objectives with estate and tax planning considerations.
  • Represent public charities, private foundations, and charitable trusts on matters within the group's practice.
  • Contribute to business and estate planning matters for clients with complex personal, family, business, and charitable interests.
  • Engage directly with clients from an early stage while working alongside experienced practitioners on sophisticated matters.

What You Bring

  • 3–6 years of relevant legal experience in private wealth services or a closely related practice.
  • Knowledge of estate planning and the issues involved in advising individuals and families on wealth transfer.
  • Experience or demonstrated familiarity with trust and estate administration and fiduciary matters.
  • Understanding of business succession planning for closely held businesses.
  • Ability to work with tax-related issues arising in estate, trust, and business planning matters.
  • Strong legal analysis, drafting, and client-service skills suited to complex planning and advisory work.
  • Interest or experience in advising public charities, private foundations, or charitable trusts is relevant to the practice's work.

Compensation & Benefits

The stated salary range is $225,000–$310,000, with hours and merit bonus opportunities, excellent benefits, and billable-hour credit for pro bono work.
