Position overview

Our client is seeking a midlevel associate with 4–6 years of relevant transactional experience in trust and estate planning and administration to join its national Private Client Services Group in Bellevue. The team advises individuals and families on sophisticated planning, administration, and tax matters.

The Work

  • Assist individuals and families with sophisticated estate and tax planning, including developing strategies tailored to complex personal and financial circumstances.
  • Work on the creation and administration of family offices, helping clients address the ongoing management of family wealth and related matters.
  • Administer, decant, and modify trusts, addressing the planning and administration issues that arise over the life of a trust.
  • Handle complex estate administration matters and help manage the legal and tax issues involved in administering estates.
  • Plan with respect to business interests, art, and other unusual assets, considering the distinctive issues these assets can present.
  • Analyze complex transfer tax issues arising in connection with estate and tax planning.
  • Assist with tax controversy matters before the Internal Revenue Service.

What You Bring

  • Four to six years of relevant transactional experience in trust and estate planning and administration.
  • Strong knowledge of estate planning and trust and estate administration.
  • Ability to analyze sophisticated tax and transfer tax issues.
  • Experience or demonstrated capability working on trust administration, decanting, or modification matters.
  • Strong written communication skills, including the ability to prepare clear legal analysis and work product.
  • Excellent verbal communication skills and the ability to work effectively with individuals and families.
  • Strong academic credentials.
  • An LL.M. in tax is preferred but not required.

Compensation & Benefits

The position has a stated annual compensation range of $365,000–$420,000, depending on qualifications and experience, and is eligible for an annual discretionary bonus.
