Our client is seeking a mid-level or senior associate with 3–6 years of experience to join its Privacy, Cybersecurity & Data Strategy practice in Los Angeles. The team helps organizations build risk-aware, scalable privacy and cybersecurity programs and develop data strategies amid overlapping legal requirements.
The Work
- Advise clients on privacy and cybersecurity considerations for data products, services, and uses, helping them assess legal risk and develop flexible, scalable programs.
- Support clients in benchmarking privacy and cyber risks and prioritizing resources in response to evolving and overlapping legal regimes.
- Work with healthcare, life sciences, financial services, consumer products, and other organizations as they expand data-driven products and operations.
- Assist with transactions involving data-related issues, including negotiations and evaluation of potential business targets.
- Help mobilize incident investigations and response efforts following data attacks, with a focus on containing incidents and minimizing losses.
- Participate in litigation and defense work involving data-breach and privacy plaintiffs and major data protection authorities.
- Contribute to privacy litigation and consumer protection class action matters, with opportunities for courtroom, arbitration, and deposition experience.
What You Bring
- Three to six years of relevant legal experience; mid-level or senior associate experience is sought.
- Strong legal analysis and writing skills, academic credentials, and professional references.
- Experience advising on privacy, cybersecurity, or data strategy matters.
- Ability to assess privacy and cybersecurity issues involving data products, services, and business uses.
- Experience with data-related transactions, negotiations, or evaluation of potential business targets is relevant.
- Privacy litigation and consumer protection class action experience is preferred, but not required.
- Trial experience, arguing matters before courts or arbitrators, and taking or defending depositions are preferred.
- Must be licensed, or currently eligible to become licensed, to practice law in California.
