Position overview

Our client is seeking a junior- or mid-level Patent Litigation Associate with 3-6 years of experience for its Washington, D.C. team. The practice handles sophisticated patent matters for clients across a range of industries, including both offensive and defensive disputes.

The Work

  • Contribute to patent litigation matters in which clients pursue claims or defend against allegations, supporting strategies responsive to the demands of each case.
  • Work on competitor-versus-competitor patent disputes involving businesses protecting or challenging commercially valuable technology.
  • Support the defense of lawsuits brought by non-practicing entities and help clients navigate complex cases with cost-effective solutions.
  • Engage with matters involving clients in telecommunications, computer software and hardware, financial services, and manufacturing.
  • Build an understanding of the technologies at issue across varied cases, with access to a team that includes lawyers holding advanced degrees in engineering and the sciences.

What You Bring

  • Three to six years of experience as an associate working in patent litigation.
  • Knowledge of patent disputes and the ability to contribute to both offensive and defensive litigation matters.
  • Experience or familiarity with competitor-versus-competitor patent disputes and/or the defense of non-practicing entity cases.
  • Ability to engage with technically complex issues across industries such as telecommunications, software and hardware, financial services, or manufacturing.
  • An engineering or scientific background is relevant to the practice; the team includes lawyers with advanced degrees in these fields.

Compensation & Benefits

The firm-stated salary range is $235,000-$410,000.
