Position overview

Our client is seeking a Patent Litigation Associate with 3–6 years of experience to join its patent litigation team in Charlotte, North Carolina. The practice handles sophisticated offensive and defensive patent matters for clients across a wide range of industries and technical fields.

The Work

  • Contribute to offensive and defensive patent litigation matters, helping develop approaches that address clients’ business goals and litigation needs.
  • Work on competitor-versus-competitor patent disputes, supporting the representation of clients in complex cases.
  • Assist in defending lawsuits brought by non-practicing entities and help clients navigate those matters effectively and cost-consciously.
  • Engage with patent disputes involving telecommunications, computer software and hardware, financial institutions, and manufacturing.
  • Learn and assess complex technologies alongside lawyers with engineering and scientific backgrounds, contributing to solutions tailored to each matter.

What You Bring

  • Three to six years of legal experience focused on patent litigation.
  • Experience contributing to sophisticated patent disputes, including offensive or defensive matters.
  • Familiarity with competitor-versus-competitor patent litigation and/or lawsuits brought by non-practicing entities.
  • Ability to engage with complex technical subject matter and learn unfamiliar technologies.
  • Ability to work across matters involving clients in sectors such as telecommunications, software and hardware, financial services, or manufacturing.

Compensation & Benefits

The estimated compensation range is $260,000–$390,000, based on the 2026 Cravath base scale; the range is an estimate rather than firm-stated compensation.
