Position overview

Our client is seeking a junior or mid-level associate with 3–6 years of experience to join its Patent Litigation Team in Richmond. The practice represents clients in sophisticated patent disputes, both offensively and defensively, across a broad range of industries.

The Work

  • Contribute to offensive and defensive patent litigation matters, helping develop approaches that address clients’ commercial objectives and the demands of complex cases.
  • Work on competitor-versus-competitor disputes, including matters in which patent claims are asserted to advance or protect business interests.
  • Assist in defending lawsuits brought by non-practicing entities, supporting clients as they navigate complex patent claims.
  • Engage with patent and technology issues for clients in telecommunications, computer software and hardware, financial services, and manufacturing.
  • Help develop practical, cost-conscious litigation solutions tailored to the issues presented by each case.

What You Bring

  • 3–6 years of experience practicing in patent litigation.
  • Experience or demonstrated interest in complex patent disputes, including offensive or defensive matters.
  • Ability to engage with patent issues and understand the technology underlying a dispute.
  • Strong analytical and written communication skills for contributing to sophisticated litigation matters.
  • Interest in serving clients across technology, financial, and manufacturing sectors.

Compensation & Benefits

The stated salary range is $235,000–$410,000.
