Our client is seeking a junior- to mid-level Patent Litigation Associate with 3–6 years of experience to join its intellectual property team in Raleigh. The practice handles sophisticated patent disputes for clients across a wide range of industries and technologies.
The Work
- Contribute to offensive and defensive patent litigation matters, including competitor-versus-competitor disputes.
- Assist in defending clients against patent lawsuits brought by non-practicing entities.
- Support litigation work designed to help clients navigate complex cases successfully and cost-effectively.
- Work on disputes involving telecommunications providers, computer software and hardware companies, financial institutions, and manufacturers.
- Engage with patent matters involving commercially valuable ideas and technology, with attention to clients’ business goals.
- Collaborate within an intellectual property practice whose lawyers bring engineering and scientific backgrounds to technology-focused matters.
What You Bring
- Three to six years of experience, consistent with a junior- to mid-level associate position.
- Experience or demonstrated interest in patent litigation.
- Familiarity with offensive or defensive patent disputes, including competitor litigation or non-practicing entity cases.
- Ability to engage with complex technology and intellectual property issues across business sectors.
- An engineering or scientific background may be relevant to matters involving technical subject matter; many lawyers in the practice hold advanced degrees in these fields.

Compensation & Benefits
Estimated compensation is $260,000–$390,000, based on the 2026 Cravath base scale; this is an estimate rather than firm-stated compensation.
