Our client is seeking a Patent Associate with 1–4 years of law-firm patent prosecution experience to join its Boston practice. The role calls for patent bar membership, an advanced degree, and a technical background in life sciences or a related discipline.

The Work

  • Contribute to patent prosecution matters in a law-firm setting, applying prior prosecution experience to the work of the practice.
  • Bring advanced technical knowledge in a life-sciences or related discipline to patent prosecution work.
  • Support matters informed by fields such as cell and molecular biology, immunology, biochemistry, and bioengineering.
  • Apply expertise in organic or medicinal chemistry, cancer biology, pharmacology, biophysics, bioinformatics, or digital-health-focused disciplines where relevant to the work.

What You Bring

  • 1–4 years of patent prosecution experience at a law firm.
  • Membership in the patent bar.
  • An advanced degree in a relevant technical field.
  • A background in cell or molecular biology, immunology, biochemistry, bioinformatics, bioengineering, organic chemistry, medicinal chemistry, cancer biology, pharmacology, biophysics, or a digital-health-focused discipline.
  • Strong verbal, written, and interpersonal skills.
  • Superior academic credentials.
  • Prior patent agent experience is preferred.

Compensation & Benefits

The stated salary range is $225,000–$310,000 based on year classification, and discretionary merit bonuses may be awarded.
