Position overview

Our client is seeking a Patent Associate with 1–4 years of law firm patent prosecution experience to join its Wilmington, Delaware practice. Applicants must be registered to practice before the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office and hold an advanced degree in a relevant scientific or technical field.

The Work

  • Contribute to patent prosecution matters, drawing on prior law firm experience and advanced scientific or technical training.
  • Apply subject-matter knowledge to prosecution work involving fields such as cell and molecular biology, immunology, biochemistry, and bioinformatics.
  • Support matters involving bioengineering, organic chemistry, medicinal chemistry, cancer biology, pharmacology, or biophysics, depending on your background.
  • Bring relevant expertise in digital health-focused disciplines to patent prosecution work where your technical background aligns.
  • Communicate effectively in writing and verbally, using strong interpersonal skills in the course of your work.

What You Bring

  • 1–4 years of law firm patent prosecution experience.
  • Membership in the patent bar.
  • An advanced degree in a relevant scientific or technical discipline.
  • A background in one or more of the following: cell or molecular biology, immunology, biochemistry, bioinformatics, bioengineering, organic chemistry, medicinal chemistry, cancer biology, pharmacology, biophysics, or a digital health-focused discipline.
  • Strong verbal, written, and interpersonal skills.
  • Superior academic credentials.
  • Prior patent agent experience is preferred.

A stated salary range of $225,000–$310,000, based on year classification, and the possibility of discretionary merit bonuses.
