Our client is seeking a Patent Associate with 1–4 years of law firm patent prosecution experience to join its Salt Lake City practice. The search is focused on candidates with an advanced degree, patent bar membership, and scientific or technical training in life sciences or a related field.
The Work
- Work on patent prosecution matters involving life-sciences and related technologies, applying scientific or technical knowledge to the subject matter.
- Contribute to the preparation and prosecution of patent applications, drawing on prior law firm prosecution experience.
- Support matters involving areas such as cell and molecular biology, immunology, biochemistry, bioinformatics, and bioengineering.
- Bring relevant technical understanding to prosecution work involving organic or medicinal chemistry, cancer biology, pharmacology, or biophysics.
- Contribute to patent prosecution matters involving digital health-focused disciplines where that background is relevant.
What You Bring
- 1–4 years of patent prosecution experience in a law firm.
- Membership in the patent bar.
- An advanced degree in a relevant scientific, engineering, or technical discipline.
- A background in one or more of the following: cell or molecular biology, immunology, biochemistry, bioinformatics, bioengineering, organic chemistry, medicinal chemistry, cancer biology, pharmacology, biophysics, or digital health-focused disciplines.
- Prior patent agent experience is preferred.
- Strong verbal, written, and interpersonal skills.
- Superior academic credentials.

Compensation & Benefits
The stated salary range is $225,000–$310,000, based on year classification, with discretionary merit bonuses potentially available.
