Our client is seeking a Patent Associate with 1–4 years of law-firm patent prosecution experience to join its Seattle practice. The opportunity is geared toward attorneys with advanced scientific training and a strong interest in patent work involving life sciences and related technical disciplines.
The Work
- Work on patent prosecution matters involving life sciences and related technical subject matter, applying prior law-firm prosecution experience.
- Use scientific training to understand and analyze inventions in areas such as molecular biology, immunology, chemistry, pharmacology, and bioengineering.
- Contribute to patent application preparation and prosecution, including developing written materials that accurately present complex technical concepts.
- Support prosecution work involving a range of scientific disciplines, including bioinformatics, biophysics, cancer biology, and digital-health-focused fields.
What You Bring
- One to four years of patent prosecution experience at a law firm.
- Membership in the patent bar.
- An advanced degree in a relevant scientific or technical field.
- A background in one or more of the following: cell or molecular biology, immunology, biochemistry, bioinformatics, bioengineering, organic chemistry, medicinal chemistry, cancer biology, pharmacology, biophysics, or digital-health-focused disciplines.
- Prior patent agent experience is preferred.
- Strong verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
- Superior academic credentials.

Compensation & Benefits
The stated salary range is $225,000–$310,000, based on year classification, and discretionary merit bonuses may also be awarded.
