Our client is seeking a Patent Associate with 1–4 years of law firm patent prosecution experience to join its Los Angeles team. The opportunity is intended for an attorney with patent bar membership, an advanced degree, and a scientific background relevant to life sciences or digital health-focused disciplines.
The Work
- Work on patent prosecution matters, applying scientific training to technologies in life sciences and related fields.
- Bring technical understanding in areas such as cell or molecular biology, immunology, biochemistry, bioinformatics, and bioengineering to prosecution work.
- Contribute a background in organic chemistry, medicinal chemistry, cancer biology, pharmacology, or biophysics to relevant patent matters.
- Apply experience in digital health-focused disciplines to patent prosecution matters involving that technical background.
- Use strong written, verbal, and interpersonal skills in carrying out associate-level patent prosecution responsibilities.
What You Bring
- 1–4 years of patent prosecution experience in a law firm.
- Membership in the patent bar.
- An advanced degree in a relevant technical or scientific discipline.
- A background in one or more of the following: cell or molecular biology, immunology, biochemistry, bioinformatics, or bioengineering.
- Relevant expertise may also include organic chemistry, medicinal chemistry, cancer biology, pharmacology, biophysics, or digital health-focused disciplines.
- Strong verbal, written, and interpersonal skills.
- Superior academic credentials.
- Prior patent agent experience is preferred.

Compensation & Benefits
The position offers a stated salary range of $225,000–$310,000, based on year classification, and discretionary merit bonuses may also be awarded.
