Our client is seeking a Patent Associate with 1–4 years of law-firm patent prosecution experience to join its New York City practice. Candidates should be admitted to the patent bar and have an advanced degree in a relevant scientific or technical discipline.
The Work
- Contribute to patent prosecution matters involving life sciences and related technologies, applying prior law-firm prosecution experience to the work.
- Bring scientific or technical training to prosecution matters involving areas such as cell or molecular biology, immunology, biochemistry, and bioengineering.
- Apply relevant expertise to work involving organic or medicinal chemistry, cancer biology, pharmacology, biophysics, bioinformatics, or digital-health-focused disciplines.
- Use strong written, verbal, and interpersonal skills in carrying out patent prosecution work.
What You Bring
- One to four years of patent prosecution experience in a law-firm setting.
- Membership in the patent bar.
- An advanced degree in a relevant scientific or technical field.
- A background in cell or molecular biology, immunology, biochemistry, bioinformatics, bioengineering, organic chemistry, medicinal chemistry, cancer biology, pharmacology, biophysics, or a digital-health-focused discipline.
- Prior patent agent experience is preferred.
- Strong verbal, written, and interpersonal skills.
- Superior academic credentials.

Compensation & Benefits
The stated salary range is $225,000–$310,000, based on year classification, with discretionary merit bonuses also possible.
