Our client is expanding its Emerging Companies & Venture Capital group in Palo Alto and seeks an associate with 4–8 years of experience. The practice advises innovative businesses throughout their lifecycle, from formation and financing to mergers and acquisitions, as well as the funds that invest in them.
The Work
- Advise emerging and established companies on business formation and the legal issues that arise as they build and grow.
- Handle venture financing transactions for companies at different stages of development, from newly formed startups to multi-billion-dollar technology market leaders.
- Represent investment funds that invest in innovative companies, working across the investor and company sides of the practice.
- Support clients through mergers and acquisitions as part of a lifecycle-focused corporate practice.
- Manage internal and external client and counsel relationships while delivering work on sophisticated matters with national reach.
What You Bring
- At least four years of relevant experience; experience at a comparable law firm is preferred.
- Experience with emerging companies and venture capital work, including company formation and financing transactions.
- Knowledge of mergers and acquisitions and the ability to contribute to matters across the business lifecycle.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Quantitative skills and proficiency with Excel.
- Ability to effectively manage relationships with internal and external clients and counsel.
- Strong academic credentials and references.

Compensation & Benefits
Stated annual compensation is $310,000–$420,000, depending on qualifications and experience, with eligibility for an annual discretionary bonus.
