Position overview

Our client is seeking a New York litigator ready to take meaningful ownership of complex commercial and class action matters. The practice represents public corporations, financial services and investment management firms, and private equity clients in disputes across state and federal jurisdictions.

The Work

  • Manage complex litigation matters, coordinating key workstreams and contributing to case strategy from early assessment through resolution.
  • Research and draft persuasive pleadings, motions, and briefs in sophisticated commercial and class action disputes.
  • Oversee discovery and prepare for and conduct depositions, hearings, and trials.
  • Negotiate settlements and participate in mediation and arbitration, applying sound advocacy and negotiation skills.
  • Advise clients on litigation strategy and risk assessment, and develop and maintain strong client relationships.
  • Work on corporate governance and shareholder suits, deal-related litigation, breach of contract, fraud, and other business tort matters.
  • Use AI tools responsibly and ethically by assessing appropriate use cases, protecting confidentiality, verifying outputs, and applying independent legal judgment.
  • Mentor and train junior associates while managing multiple assignments and meeting deadlines.

What You Bring

  • Three to seven years of sophisticated litigation experience, preferably in complex commercial litigation at a law firm.
  • Experience with complex commercial and class action litigation; familiarity with corporate governance or shareholder suits, deal-related litigation, breach of contract, fraud, or other business torts is preferred.
  • Juris Doctor degree from an accredited law school and admission to practice in New York.
  • Strong academic record and outstanding legal writing ability.
  • Advanced analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to manage multiple assignments and deadlines.
  • Strong communication, interpersonal, negotiation, and advocacy skills.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively and to build effective client relationships.
  • Proficiency in responsible and ethical AI use, including confidentiality safeguards, output verification, and sound independent judgment.

Compensation & Benefits

Compensation is estimated at $260,000–$420,000 based on the 2026 Cravath base scale; this is an estimate rather than firm-stated compensation.
