Position overview

A collaborative employment practice is seeking an experienced litigator to take a leading role in sophisticated California workplace matters. This position combines hands-on case ownership, direct client relationships, and opportunities to help shape litigation strategy across class, representative, and individual claims.

The Work

  • Manage and support employment litigation in state and federal courts from initial assessment through resolution, with a primary focus on wage-and-hour class actions and PAGA representative actions.
  • Develop case strategy, evaluate potential exposure, and advise employer clients on litigation and settlement approaches.
  • Draft and argue substantive motions, including motions to compel arbitration, class certification motions, dispositive motions, and appellate briefs.
  • Take and defend depositions of named plaintiffs, percipient witnesses, corporate representatives, and experts; handle court appearances independently.
  • Oversee written discovery, document review, and case management, and participate in mediations, settlement negotiations, and arbitrations.
  • Handle other high-stakes workplace claims, including discrimination, harassment, retaliation, and trade secret disputes, while counseling clients on California employment compliance and risk mitigation.
  • Work with partners and litigation teams on sophisticated matters, mentor junior associates, and contribute to client relationships and business development.

What You Bring

  • At least five years of employment litigation experience, including significant experience with wage-and-hour class actions and PAGA matters.
  • Juris Doctor from an accredited law school and admission to practice in California.
  • Strong knowledge of California employment law and class action procedure.
  • Experience managing complex litigation matters and communicating directly with clients.
  • Demonstrated ability to draft persuasive legal work, conduct legal research, analyze complex issues, and advocate orally.
  • Experience taking and defending depositions and handling court appearances independently.
  • Strong organization and case-management skills, including the ability to manage competing priorities.
  • Prior law firm experience is preferred; a commitment to client service, collaboration, and professional excellence is expected.

Compensation & Benefits

The stated annual salary range is $310,000–$330,000.

Eligible full-time employees may also receive comprehensive benefits, and attorneys generally take approximately three weeks of vacation annually, subject to client and practice needs, as well as 11 paid holidays.

An annual discretionary bonus may be available.
