Position overview

Our client is seeking an experienced attorney to lead knowledge strategy for its registered funds practice in Chicago. This is a senior legal resource role combining deep funds experience with practical innovation: creating trusted guidance, improving attorney workflows, and supporting high-quality client service.

The Work

  • Lead the registered funds knowledge management strategy in coordination with practice leadership and related asset management teams, setting priorities around legal importance, practice needs, and client impact.
  • Create, update, and maintain model documents, precedent collections, forms, checklists, practice notes, training materials, and other resources used in registered funds matters.
  • Track legal, regulatory, and market developments affecting registered funds and their advisers, and translate them into practical updates to guidance, resources, and workflows.
  • Work with partners, counsel, associates, and professional staff across offices to identify knowledge gaps, improve access to reliable information, and promote consistent document and matter knowledge practices.
  • Help lawyers assess responsible use cases for legal technology and artificial intelligence, supporting improved workflows while applying professional judgment and protecting confidentiality.
  • Develop and deliver training on registered funds topics, market developments, knowledge resources, legal technology, and efficient work practices.
  • Evaluate third-party legal, regulatory, and market resources that can strengthen the practice’s ability to provide current and efficient advice.
  • Contribute to client-facing materials and selected legal work product supporting registered funds clients and reflecting current market practice.

What You Bring

  • Juris Doctor degree from an accredited law school and admission in good standing to the bar in the relevant jurisdiction.
  • More than five years of relevant registered funds experience; experience in a global or large law firm is preferred, and comparable in-house legal experience may be considered.
  • Strong understanding of the legal and regulatory framework for registered investment companies and investment advisers, including formation, registration, disclosure, governance, compliance, board matters, filings, and ongoing operations.
  • Experience drafting, reviewing, or maintaining registered funds materials such as registration statements, board materials, compliance policies, investor disclosures, service-provider agreements, forms, or precedent documents.
  • Ability to monitor legal and market developments, assess practical implications, and turn them into clear guidance, training, and practice resources.
  • Ability to use artificial intelligence responsibly and ethically, including assessing appropriate use cases, protecting confidentiality, verifying outputs, and applying independent legal judgment.
  • Excellent legal writing, research, analytical, and communication skills, with strong project management, prioritization, and attention to detail.
  • Ability to build trust with lawyers and professional staff, collaborate across offices and practices, and support continuous improvement in a professional services environment.
