Our client is seeking an associate with life sciences patent prosecution experience to help protect innovation through U.S. and foreign patent office practice. The Los Angeles-based role also offers exposure to opinions, due diligence, licensing, litigation support, and client counseling on sophisticated matters.
The Work
- Draft and prosecute patent applications for life sciences clients, supporting the development and protection of their intellectual property.
- Handle U.S. and foreign patent office practice, working across patent matters in multiple jurisdictions.
- Contribute to opinion work and due diligence, assessing patent issues in connection with life sciences-focused projects.
- Support licensing matters by applying patent prosecution knowledge to clients’ intellectual property needs.
- Provide litigation support on patent matters, contributing to work that extends beyond prosecution.
- Counsel clients on a variety of life sciences-focused projects and participate in sophisticated matters with local and national reach.
What You Bring
- At least two years of patent prosecution experience, preferably working with life sciences clients.
- An advanced degree in biology, chemistry, or a biotechnical discipline.
- Admission to the United States Patent and Trademark Office.
- Experience drafting and prosecuting patent applications.
- Ability to contribute to U.S. and foreign patent office practice and related opinion, due diligence, licensing, or litigation support work.
- Excellent academic credentials.

Compensation & Benefits
The stated annual salary range is $235,000–$365,000, with eligibility for an annual discretionary bonus, 401(k), medical, dental, and vision insurance, personal medical and parental leave, up to ten paid holidays, and family care benefits.
