Position overview

Work at the intersection of intellectual property, business strategy, and life-sciences innovation in a Boston-based role advising companies and investors across the biotechnology, pharmaceutical, and medical-device sectors. This opportunity offers meaningful exposure to licensing, collaborations, company-building transactions, and evolving technology issues.

The Work

  • Advise clients on complex intellectual property licenses and collaborations involving life sciences products, technology, and innovation.
  • Support strategic M&A, including acquisitions between pharmaceutical and biotechnology companies, and help clients address IP and commercial considerations in these transactions.
  • Work on NewCo formations and carve-outs that establish new companies, coordinating transaction work across the legal and business issues involved.
  • Draft and negotiate manufacturing, supply, distribution, and other commercial agreements for clients in life sciences and healthcare.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to address matters involving data rights, artificial intelligence, digital health, and regulatory compliance.
  • Work with a varied client base that includes global pharmaceutical companies, emerging biotechnology startups, medical-device leaders, private equity firms, venture capital funds, and strategic investors.

What You Bring

  • Three to five years of relevant experience in intellectual property transactions, technology licensing, or a related practice at a multi-office law firm.
  • Experience focused on life sciences, including biotechnology, pharmaceuticals, or medical devices.
  • Demonstrated ability to draft and negotiate complex license agreements and other commercial agreements involving IP, technology, or data assets.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to explain complex legal and scientific concepts to clients.
  • Excellent client-service and interpersonal skills, with a collaborative approach to problem-solving and project management.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities for sophisticated clients in a dynamic, high-volume environment.
  • J.D. from an accredited law school or equivalent, and admission to practice in the relevant jurisdiction or jurisdictions.
  • Responsible and ethical proficiency using AI technologies; advanced scientific training and/or USPTO admission is preferred but not required.
