Position overview

Our client is seeking a midlevel to senior patent litigation associate to join its Intellectual Property & Technology practice in New York City. The role offers substantial responsibility in complex disputes involving important technologies, with opportunities to work across federal district courts, the International Trade Commission, and the Patent Trial and Appeal Board.

The Work

  • Analyze patents and prepare infringement and invalidity contentions in complex disputes involving clients’ technology and products.
  • Contribute to case strategy and collaborate with technical experts to evaluate patent issues and develop litigation positions.
  • Draft briefs and other substantive filings, manage discovery, and help prepare witnesses for key stages of litigation.
  • Take and defend depositions, and contribute to hearings and trial preparation in federal district court patent cases.
  • Work on matters before the International Trade Commission and the Patent Trial and Appeal Board, including proceedings coordinated with district court litigation.
  • Represent clients in disputes involving electronic devices, semiconductors, integrated circuits, and mechanical devices, while working directly with clients and colleagues across the firm.

What You Bring

  • Approximately 3–6 years of experience, with at least four years of patent litigation experience preferred.
  • A degree in computer science or electrical engineering.
  • Experience with federal district court patent litigation.
  • Strong legal research, writing, and analytical skills, including the ability to assess patent issues and prepare clear substantive filings.
  • Experience developing infringement or invalidity contentions, managing discovery, and preparing for or conducting depositions.
  • PTAB or International Trade Commission experience is a plus.
  • Ability to manage substantial responsibilities on complex matters and work effectively as part of a team.
  • Must be currently licensed, or currently eligible to become licensed, to practice law in New York.

Compensation & Benefits

The stated salary range is $310,000–$435,000, commensurate with experience, with eligibility for an hours-based bonus.
