Position overview

Our client is seeking a midlevel-to-senior associate to join its Intellectual Property & Technology Practice Group in Los Angeles. The associate will work on complex patent disputes involving significant technologies and have opportunities to contribute across federal district court, ITC, and PTAB proceedings.

The Work

  • Analyze patents and prepare infringement and invalidity contentions in complex disputes involving clients’ products and intellectual property.
  • Help develop case strategy and work with technical experts to assess patent issues and build litigation positions.
  • Draft briefs and other substantive filings, and manage discovery as cases progress through litigation.
  • Prepare witnesses and take and defend depositions, contributing directly to the development of the evidentiary record.
  • Participate in hearings and trial preparation, with opportunities to assume substantial responsibility on complex matters.
  • Represent clients in disputes involving electronic devices, semiconductors, integrated circuits, and mechanical devices across federal district courts, the International Trade Commission, and the Patent Trial and Appeal Board.

What You Bring

  • Approximately four or more years of patent litigation experience; the position is intended for a midlevel or senior associate.
  • A degree in computer science or electrical engineering.
  • Experience with federal district court patent litigation.
  • Strong legal research, writing, and analytical skills, including the ability to address complex technical and legal issues.
  • Capability to manage substantial responsibilities on complex matters and work effectively as part of a team.
  • Current admission, or current eligibility for admission, to practice law in the jurisdiction where applying.
  • Experience before the PTAB or International Trade Commission is a plus.

Compensation & Benefits

The stated salary range is $310,000–$435,000, commensurate with experience, and an hours-based bonus is available.
