Position overview

Our client is seeking a midlevel to senior associate to join its Intellectual Property & Technology practice in Denver. The role offers substantial involvement in complex patent disputes, with responsibility across case strategy, discovery, substantive briefing, depositions, and trial preparation in multiple forums.

The Work

  • Analyze patents and prepare infringement and invalidity contentions in complex disputes involving clients’ products and technologies.
  • Develop case strategy and work closely with technical experts to assess patent issues and build litigation positions.
  • Draft briefs and other substantive filings, manage discovery, and help prepare witnesses for key stages of litigation.
  • Take and defend depositions and contribute to hearings and trial preparation, with meaningful responsibility on matters.
  • Represent clients in federal district court patent litigation and, as matters require, proceedings before the International Trade Commission and Patent Trial and Appeal Board.
  • Collaborate with colleagues across the firm and work directly with clients on litigation strategy, case developments, and preparation.
  • Handle disputes involving technologies such as electronic devices, semiconductors, integrated circuits, and mechanical devices.

What You Bring

  • Approximately four or more years of patent litigation experience; the opportunity is intended for a midlevel to senior associate.
  • A degree in computer science or electrical engineering.
  • Experience with patent litigation in federal district court.
  • Strong legal research, writing, and analytical skills, including the ability to develop clear, persuasive substantive filings.
  • Demonstrated capability to manage substantial responsibilities on complex matters and work effectively as part of a team.
  • Experience with Patent Trial and Appeal Board or International Trade Commission proceedings is a plus.
  • Currently licensed or currently eligible to become licensed to practice law in Colorado.

Compensation & Benefits
